Frequently Asked Questions
What officiant services do you offer, and what do they include?
We provide complete wedding officiant services for couples in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Every package includes a planning consultation, a ceremony written specifically for you, professional officiating on the wedding day, and proper filing of your marriage license. Our role is to guide the ceremony so it feels natural, organized, and comfortable from start to finish.
How much do your officiant services cost?
We offer three options:
The Wedding Ceremony starts at $375 and includes a personalized ceremony, unlimited communication, and professional officiating.
The Full Wedding Experience starts at $500 and includes everything above, plus full rehearsal leadership to ensure everyone feels prepared on the wedding day.
Marriage License Signing Only is $50 for couples who want a simple legal signing without a full ceremony.
A travel fee may apply for locations more than 30 minutes from Jeffersonville, Indiana. Active-duty and veteran military couples receive a 20% discount.
Do you require a deposit to secure our wedding date?
A $250 booking deposit is needed to secure your wedding date, with the remaining balance due 14 days before the ceremony. Your date is reserved once we receive the deposit. This deposit enables us to begin planning and writing so your ceremony is thoughtfully and intentionally prepared from the very beginning.
Are there additional fees for travel or attending rehearsals?
Travel fees may apply for ceremonies held outside the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. Because venues and travel times vary, we calculate travel individually to ensure costs are fair and transparent.
For locations outside our standard service area, travel time is typically calculated using Google Maps. Any applicable travel fees are always discussed in advance, so there are no surprises. If you are unsure whether your venue requires a travel fee or would like to add rehearsal support, just let us know. We are happy to review the details and provide clear information before you book.
Rehearsal attendance is included in The Full Wedding Experience. For other packages, rehearsal coordination may be added, subject to availability.
Can we customize our wedding ceremony?
Yes. Every ceremony is written specifically for the couple. We incorporate your story, preferences, and any cultural or religious elements that matter to you. Edits are never limited, and adjustments can be made as plans evolve.
Why should we hire a professional officiant rather than have a friend or family member officiate?
Many couples love the idea of asking someone close to them to officiate, but they often find that the ceremony benefits from a calm, experienced guide.
A professional officiant manages timing, transitions, nerves, and legal details so nothing feels awkward or uncertain. That allows friends and family to stay present and enjoy the moment rather than worry about what comes next.
How far in advance should we book your services?
Most couples book six to twelve months in advance, especially for spring, summer, and fall weekends. Booking early ensures availability and gives us time to plan your ceremony thoughtfully. That said, we are always happy to check availability for shorter timelines.
Will you help us with our vows?
Yes. We are happy to offer guidance, examples, or structure for personal vows. Some couples choose to write their own, others prefer traditional wording, and some keep vows private. We support whichever option feels right to you.
How do you handle the legal aspects of our marriage?
After the ceremony, we ensure the marriage license is signed correctly and filed promptly. In Kentucky, two witnesses are required. In Indiana, witnesses are not required.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
If a wedding is canceled more than 90 days before the scheduled date, the deposit will be refunded. If canceled within 90 days, the deposit is forfeited. Any payments beyond the deposit are refunded in full.
If a wedding is postponed, we will make every effort to officiate on the new date. If we are unavailable, the same refund policy applies. Multiple reschedules within 90 days of the wedding date may result in an additional rescheduling fee.
All details are clearly outlined in our service agreement.
What if the officiant needs to cancel?
In the unlikely event of illness or emergency, another experienced member of the Kentuckiana Wedding Officiants team will step in. One benefit of working with a team is knowing you are never relying on a single individual.
Can we meet in person before the ceremony?
We currently offer virtual consultations, which many couples find convenient and flexible. This allows us to plan effectively regardless of schedules or location.
Can we include cultural or religious elements in the ceremony?
Yes. We are happy to include traditions, readings, or rituals that are meaningful to you.
Do you offer bilingual or dual-language ceremonies?
At this time, ceremonies are offered in English. We are happy to coordinate with interpreters or translators if needed.
