Frequently Asked Questions
What officiant services do you offer, and what do they include?
As a professional team of wedding officiants based near Louisville, Kentucky, we specialize in creating ceremonies that reflect each couple’s unique love story and personality. Our services include a pre-wedding consultation, a fully customized ceremony script, professional officiating on the wedding day, and prompt legal filing of your marriage license.
How much do your officiant services cost?
We offer the following packages:
• All-Inclusive Wedding Package – Wedding Day Only: $300 (a $150 deposit is required). This package includes a custom ceremony, unlimited communication, and day-of ceremony services.
• All-Inclusive Wedding Package – Wedding Day + Rehearsal: $425 (requires a $150 deposit). This package includes everything in the Wedding Day package, plus attendance at the rehearsal.
• Marriage License Signing Only: $50. This option is for couples who want to make it official without a full ceremony.
A travel fee applies for events more than 30 minutes (20 miles) from Jeffersonville, IN. Active military couples receive a 20% discount as a token of appreciation for their service.
Do you require a deposit to secure our wedding date?
Yes. To reserve your date for any of our wedding packages, a non-refundable $150 deposit is required, with the remaining balance due at least 14 days before the ceremony. The Elopement Package must be paid in full at the time of booking.
Are there additional fees for travel or attending rehearsals?
Travel fees may apply for ceremonies held outside the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. Because every venue and route is different, we calculate travel on an individual basis rather than using a set rate. This allows us to be fair and transparent with each couple.
Attendance at rehearsals is already included in the All-Inclusive Wedding Package. For other packages, rehearsal attendance can be added for an additional fee, which we’ll share up front before you book.
If you’re unsure whether your venue requires a travel fee or would like to add a rehearsal, just let us know—we’re happy to check and provide exact details.
Can we customize our wedding ceremony?
Absolutely! Your wedding ceremony should reflect your unique relationship. We will collaborate to incorporate your personal stories, preferred rituals, and any cultural or religious elements that are significant to you. Unlimited edits are included to perfect every word of your ceremony.
Why should we hire a professional officiant rather than have a friend or family member officiate?
We totally get how special it is to ask a friend or family member to officiate — it feels so personal, heartfelt, and one-of-a-kind. But many couples find that having a professional officiant really brings peace of mind and makes the experience even more memorable.
Choosing a professional ensures your ceremony goes smoothly, is legally sound, and is handled professionally. With our years of experience in public speaking, ceremony planning, and legal matters, you can relax knowing everything will be handled properly—no worries about hiccups or paperwork.
While officiating weddings is significant to us, it’s also our profession and requires considerable time, preparation, and dedication. From crafting your personalized ceremony to coordinating logistics and travel, we put our heart into every detail.
Our fees reflect not only the ceremony on the day but also the careful planning and expertise that make your wedding truly special. Most importantly, they represent our commitment to creating a seamless, meaningful celebration that perfectly captures your vision — because this is one of the most important moments of your lives.
How far in advance should we book your services?
It’s always a good idea to secure your officiant as early as possible, ideally six to twelve months in advance. During popular seasons such as spring, early summer, and fall weekends, dates tend to fill up quickly, so booking early helps secure your special day. Doing so not only guarantees availability but also gives us ample time to carefully plan and personalize your ceremony, ensuring it truly reflects your story, values, and vision.
Of course, we know every couple’s planning timeline is unique. If your wedding is approaching, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll do our best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever our schedule allows.
Will you help us with our vows?
Yes. We provide guidance, outlines, and inspiration to help you write vows that are heartfelt and authentic to your relationship. Whether you're looking for traditional or completely custom vows, we are here to assist you in finding the right words.
How do you handle the legal aspects of our marriage?
We ensure that all legal steps are completed correctly and promptly submit your marriage license to the appropriate office after the ceremony. In Kentucky, two witnesses are required; in Indiana, none are required, which simplifies the process.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Our service agreement outlines all policies on cancellations and rescheduling, including applicable fees. We understand plans can change, and we are happy to discuss your options at any time.
In the unlikely event that a couple cancels a wedding ceremony, the deposit will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 90 days before the scheduled wedding date. If the cancellation occurs less than 90 days before the wedding date, the deposit will be forfeited. Any payments made beyond the deposit will be refunded in full, regardless of when the cancellation is made.
If a couple postpones their wedding ceremony, we will make every effort to officiate on the new date. If we are unavailable due to a scheduling conflict, the same refund rules outlined above for cancellations will apply. If the ceremony is rescheduled within 90 days of the original date, no additional fee will apply if we are available. However, if multiple rescheduling requests are made within that 90-day window, an additional rescheduling fee may be charged.
What if the officiant needs to cancel?
In the unlikely event that your scheduled officiant is unable to perform the ceremony due to illness, hospitalization, accident, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, another member of the Kentuckiana Wedding Officiants team will step in to officiate your wedding.
One of the great benefits of working with KWO is that you’re not relying on a single individual; you have the support of a team. With multiple professional officiants available, it is highly unlikely that we will be unable to provide coverage for your special day.
Can we meet in person before the ceremony?
We offer virtual consultations currently. Many couples find our virtual planning process convenient and flexible.
Can we include cultural or religious elements in the ceremony?
Yes. We are happy to incorporate meaningful traditions, scriptures, or symbolic rituals that reflect your heritage or beliefs.
Do you offer bilingual or dual-language ceremonies?
Currently, we offer ceremonies in English only. However, we are happy to work with interpreters or translators to make your ceremony inclusive for all guests.
